What does GET CPF actually do?
GET CPF prepares all the documents you need to get a Brazilian CPF number on your first visit to the government office. You receive a personalised Ready Pack with your pre-filled government form data, the correct office for your state, a Portuguese phrase guide, document checklist, host declaration letter (if needed), and AI-powered document verification. GET CPF does not apply for your CPF on your behalf. Only the Brazilian government can issue a CPF. We make sure you walk in fully prepared.
How is GET CPF different from doing it myself?
You can absolutely get a CPF yourself for free (or R$7 at Correios). The challenge is that about 1 in 5 foreigners gets rejected on their first attempt due to incorrect documents, wrong office, name formatting issues, or proof of address problems. Does GET CPF guarantee I will get my CPF?
We guarantee your documents will be correctly prepared for your specific situation. The actual CPF issuance is done by the Brazilian government and we cannot control their process. However, the most common reasons for rejection (wrong documents, wrong office, name formatting errors) are exactly what GET CPF prevents. Eligibility
Can I use GET CPF if I am on a tourist visa?
Yes. Foreigners on any visa type can apply for a CPF in Brazil, including tourist visas. You do not need to be a resident. GET CPF works for tourists, digital nomads, students, expats, and anyone else visiting or living in Brazil. Read more about CPF for tourists.
Can I use GET CPF if I am not in Brazil yet?

Which nationalities does GET CPF support?
GET CPF works for passport holders of any nationality. The CPF application process is the same regardless of your country of origin. We have guides for Americans, Europeans, Japanese, Korean, Canadian, and Argentine passport holders.
Will getting a CPF make me a tax resident of Brazil?
No. A CPF is a tax identification number, but having one does not make you a tax resident. Millions of non-resident foreigners have CPFs. Tax residency is determined by your visa type and physical presence in Brazil, not by having a CPF number.
Documents and preparation
Does GET CPF help with proof of address?
Yes. If you are staying in an Airbnb, hotel, or with a friend and do not have a utility bill in your name, GET CPF generates a host declaration letter for you. What documents do I need to bring to the office?
You need your original valid passport (with entry stamp or visa), proof of a Brazilian address, and your mother's full legal name. Some offices also ask for a photocopy of your passport. Your GET CPF Ready Pack tells you exactly what to bring for your specific situation. Full document requirements.
What is the AI document checker?
Before you go to the office, you can upload photos of your documents (passport, proof of address) and our AI checker verifies they appear ready for submission. It checks for common issues like blurry photos, expired documents, or missing pages. This helps you avoid a wasted trip.
Why do you need my mother's full name?
The Brazilian government requires your mother's full legal name on the CPF application form. This is a standard requirement for all CPF applications, not something specific to GET CPF. If you do not know your mother's name or prefer not to provide it, there is an option on the form for that.
The office visit
Which office should I go to?
GET CPF identifies the correct office for your state and city. You can go to either a Correios (post office) or a Receita Federal office. Not every Correios branch offers CPF services, which is why going to the right one matters. Do I need to speak Portuguese at the office?
Most office staff speak only Portuguese. GET CPF includes a Portuguese phrase guide with the exact phrases you need at the counter, written phonetically so you can pronounce them even if you do not speak Portuguese. Read our guide to getting a CPF without speaking Portuguese.
Do I need an appointment?
At Correios, no appointment is needed. It is walk-in only. At Receita Federal offices, some locations require scheduling through their website, but many accept walk-ins. Your Ready Pack tells you whether your specific office needs an appointment.
What if my CPF application gets rejected?
Common rejection reasons include name formatting differences between your passport and the form, missing mother's name, inadequate proof of address, or a duplicate CPF already existing. Is the CPF itself free?
At Receita Federal offices, the CPF is free. At Correios post offices, there is a R$7 fee (about $1.50 USD). GET CPF's $29 fee is for document preparation and guidance, not for the CPF itself.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through our secure payment processor. Payment is in USD.
Can I get a refund?

Data and privacy
Is my passport data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Passport images and sensitive personal data are automatically deleted 24 hours after you download your Ready Pack. We are fully LGPD (Brazil's data protection law) compliant. Read our privacy policy.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your dashboard. Sensitive documents (passport photos, selfies, address proof) are automatically deleted 24 hours after download. We also accept manual deletion requests at jonathan@getcpf.com.

What can I do with my CPF?
With a CPF you can open a bank account (Nubank, Inter, C6), get a local phone plan (Vivo, Claro, TIM), use Pix payments, order on iFood, shop on Mercado Livre and Amazon Brasil, rent an apartment, join a gym, buy domestic flights at local prices, and access hundreds of other services. Does my CPF expire?
No. Your CPF number is permanent and does not expire. However, your CPF status can become irregular if you do not comply with annual recadastramento requirements. An irregular CPF cannot be used for new services until regularised.
