Best places to get a CPF in Vitoria

Vitoria and neighbouring Vila Velha have Correios branches that process CPF applications:

Correios Praia do Canto (Rua Chapot Presvot area), in Vitoria's most upscale neighbourhood. Clean, well-organised, and convenient for foreigners in the beach areas.

Correios Centro de Vitoria (Avenida Jeronimo Monteiro), the downtown branch on the island. Near the port and historic centre.

Correios Vila Velha Centro (near Praia da Costa), in the twin city across the bridge. Many foreigners actually stay in Vila Velha because the beaches are better (Praia da Costa and Itapua).

Vitoria is an island city connected to the mainland by bridges. It is compact, scenic, and chronically underrated.

Where foreigners live in Vitoria and Vila Velha

Praia do Canto and Jardim da Penha are the preferred neighbourhoods on Vitoria island. Upscale, walkable, good restaurants. One-bedrooms from R$1,500-2,500.

Vila Velha's Praia da Costa and Itapua neighbourhoods are across the Third Bridge (a dramatic cable-stay bridge). The beaches are wider and better than Vitoria's. Rent is slightly cheaper: R$1,200-2,000.

The Convento da Penha (a 16th-century convent on a cliff in Vila Velha) is one of the most striking landmarks in Brazil. It overlooks the entire bay.

Vitoria has a small but growing expat community, particularly Europeans connected to the mining industry (Vale's port operations are nearby).

Vitoria-specific tips

The moqueca capixaba (Espirito Santo's version of fish stew, made with annatto and without coconut milk) is distinct from Bahian moqueca and arguably better. The best versions are in Praia do Canto and at the Paneleiras de Goiabeiras (traditional clay pot makers in Vitoria's north).

Vitoria has good air connections to Sao Paulo, Rio, and Belo Horizonte. With a CPF, domestic flights on Azul and Gol are significantly cheaper at local prices.

The coast of Espirito Santo has excellent beach towns: Guarapari (40 minutes south) and Anchieta for beach days, and Domingos Martins and Santa Teresa for mountain cool in the interior. All accessible by car or bus, all easier with Pix.
