Best places to get a CPF in Rio Branco

Rio Branco has Correios branches that process CPF applications:

Correios Centro (Rua Epaminondas Jacome), the main branch in central Rio Branco, near the Mercado Velho (old market). Your most reliable option.

Rio Branco is deep in the western Amazon, near the Bolivian border (Cobija, 4 hours by road) and Peru (accessible via the Interoceanic Highway). The city is the endpoint of the BR-364 highway from Cuiaba.

Very few foreigners apply for CPFs here. Most are researchers, rubber tappers associated with Chico Mendes legacy projects, or travellers on the Interoceanic route between Brazil and Peru.

Why you might need a CPF in Rio Branco

If you are crossing between Brazil and Bolivia (via Brasileia/Cobija) or heading to Peru (via Assis Brasil/Inapari), having a CPF and a Brazilian bank account makes the Brazilian side of the journey much easier.

Researchers at the Parque Nacional da Serra do Divisor or working with forest communities need local phone plans, banking, and the ability to pay with Pix in areas where cash is unreliable.

Phone coverage outside Rio Branco is extremely limited. Vivo is the only carrier with any rural coverage in Acre. Get a postpaid plan before leaving the city.
