Indian nationals and the CPF

A growing number of Indian visitors and workers are coming to Brazil, especially in tech and business. If you are an Indian national in Brazil on a work visa, business visa, or even a tourist visa, you can and should get a CPF.

The process is the same as for any foreigner, but there are a few India-specific details that matter.

India-specific considerations

Name formatting. Indian passports often have the surname in one field and given names in another, which can cause confusion on the CPF form. Make sure you enter your name exactly as it appears on your passport, including any middle names.

Mother's name. This is the field that causes the most rejections globally, but Indian passports almost always include the mother's name, which actually makes this easier for Indian applicants than for some other nationalities.

Visa requirements. Indian nationals need a visa to enter Brazil. Your visa type does not affect the CPF process, but you need to have a valid visa and entry stamp in your passport.

After your CPF
