Why gyms need your CPF

Brazilian businesses use the CPF for contract registration, billing, and invoice generation. When you join a gym, they create a contract linked to your CPF. Your monthly payments, entry logs, and membership details are all tied to this number.

Some smaller, neighbourhood gyms may let you train without a CPF by paying cash upfront, but this is informal and increasingly rare as payment systems digitise.

How to get your CPF and start training

Get your CPF at a Receita Federal office, which takes about an hour with the right documents. Then walk into any gym with your CPF and passport. Most plans are month-to-month with no long-term commitment.
