Renting in Brazil moves fast, and the difference between getting the apartment you want and losing it often comes down to whether you have your paperwork ready. The checklist

• ✓ CPF. Non-negotiable. No proper contract or rental platform works without it.
• ✓ Passport. The original, plus a copy of the photo page.
• ✓ Proof of income. Bank statements, an employment letter, or freelance contracts. Income from abroad usually counts.
• ✓ A guarantee. Most often a caucao (cash deposit of up to three months rent).
